This year's championship was 100% remote, with two types of competition: Live Remote Skills (LRS) and Live Remote Tournament (LRT). TRL teams 33011X Critical Error-EndOfFile, 33011Z Critical Error-KernelPanic and 1691A Hurricane Robotics competed in LRS, while 76767R RoboGearheads competed in LRT. 33011X Critical Error-EndOfFile, comprised of all HS seniors, concluded their final year of competition by bringing home both the Amaze and Community Awards!
TRL hosted the 2020-2021 North Carolina State Championships for VEX Robotics Competition on March 5-6th 2021. This was the first (and hopefully last) year that the NC state championships were conducted remotely, using a live remote skills format.
In the HS division, Hurricane Robotics 1691A took home both Skills Champion and the Excellence Award. RoboGearheads 76767R won the design award, and Critical Error's Kernel Panic 33011Z won the Innovate Award. Critical Error End of File. 33011X took Robot Skills 2nd Place. In the MS division, L & B's Garage Robotics' ElectroLizards 97735Z won the Excellence Award, while L & B's Garage Robotics' Techno Crankers 97735X won the Design Award and Robot Skills Champion. TRL's "Just Give Me a Minute" live remote skills event was held on December 4-5th 2020. This event allowed teams across NC to compete from the comfort (and safety) of their home fields!

High School Division: RoboGearheads - Tournament Champions Cyber Spartans, Sanderson High - Tournament Finalist Hurricanes - Design Award CriticalError, InsfcntStor - Judges Award CriticalError, StackOvrflw - Create Award Middle School Division: Trinity, Crusaders - Amaze award TRL's 2019-2020 season - VEX Robotics Competition Tower Takeover concluded on Saturday February 1st at the Wake Tech Conference Center. Members of the NC State VEXU team assisted our head referee Robert George and skills referee Hollis Watkins to officiate the matches, and also run the TM system. Parks Newby from NCSU's technical education department headed a team of 8 highly qualified judges. The championship was won by the blue alliance (alliance 2) of 33011X Critical Error-StackOvrflow and 41920C Pather Creek HS-Fatal Traction, who defeated alliance 1 of 33011Z Critical Error-InsfcntStor and 3170B Apex Friendship HS by a score of 53-37. This finals match marked the only loss over the full TRL season for 33011Z. 33011X also took home Robot Skills Champion.
