Raleigh NC, September 14 2019.
TRL volunteers conducted a robotics demo to SPARKcon in downtown Raleigh on September 14th. This was a free event to introduce the community to competitive robotics. Festival goers lined up to drive 1v1 matches in a 1/4 scale game of the ball shooting portion of last year's VEX competition Turning Point using TRL's TriangleShooterBots. Volunteers included members of Critical Error Robotics, Panther Creek High School VEX, and the NC State VEXU teams. The demo was a big success with over 200 matches run for over 400 participants over the course of the day.

Two TRL middle school aged teams; Apex Middle School and Critical Error Robotics-LP0onFire teamed up to win the North Carolina state VEX robotics tournaments, qualifying for the VEX World Championship. It was the first time middle school teams swept the NC championships, which are populated primarily with high school aged teams. With the victory both teams will represent North Carolina at the VEX World Championships in Louisville KY. Lufkin Road Middle School and Hurricane Robotics are the 2019 TRL Tournament Champions after defeating Critical Error Robotics-LP0onFire and Trinity Robotics in a tiebreaker finals match. In the first year of the single elimination tournament format these two alliances won every elimination tournament match on their way to the finals, only to finish in an 11 to 11 tie. In the rematch Critical Error's robot broke down, and the Hurricanes and Lufkin Road took advantage for a lopsided victory.
